Milestones

Lynn made a great suggestion yesterday and that’s to reward yourself when you reach milestones in your challenges. Breaking up a big challenge with milestones (and rewards) will make the challenge seem far easier to attain, since you’re only dealing with one chunk of it at a time. And who doesn’t appreciate a well-deserved reward?

Maybe you want to reward yourself at the 15-day mark, or at the end of each week, or when you reach 75 sit-ups, whatever. Break up your big 30-day challenge with milestones and make sure you reward yourself at each one. Treat yourself to a fancy coffee, relax with a luxurious bubble bath (in a kid-free zone), treat yourself to a new pair of shoes—okay, these are my rewards, but you get the idea. You’re accomplishing something—you deserve it!

Today’s cheesy motivational quote was sent to me by Tariq.

Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for fewer problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom.
